http://www.thedawnexperience.co.uk/databank/images/prince.jpg Prince's 2nd album "Prince".
Compared to For You, Prince's second self-titled album released 19 October 1979 was more commercial outing. His third (in the US) single release "I Wanna Be Your Lover", was an unqualified success reaching No. 11 in the US pop charts (No. 41 UK) and earned his first platinum disc for over 1 million copies sold. The Album peaked at No. 22 in the US (Uncharted in the UK) and remained in the chart for 28 weeks.
What are your thoughts about this album (good or bad). What does it mean to you and where does it figure in your collection. Discuss the songs and vote in our poll for your favourite track.

I have to vote for I Wanna Be Your Lover for sentimental reasons. It was the first time I heard Prince sing on an album called SoudWaves (K-tel International), which I still have.

a hard one again, but the sexy dancer 12" is fantastic, and one of the rarer and more expensive disc to collect
bambi is another great track, expecially live. it's a shame he didn't play that during the aftershows at the indigo as it's one of my favourtie prince rock tracks. it's one of those tracks that heavy metal fans who would otherwise hate prince would like. in fact it was one who showed me how to play it on guitar. he told me that the undertaker bootleg was popular amongst guitarists who weren't even fans, and it made them rethink about princes music. they didn't even realise the song was so old
i wanna be your lover is another great track. perfect pop/funk/disco. i wish there was an extended 12" version. both of the videos are cheesy as hell, with his aerosmith and stones inspired look and farrah cut

I voted for 'When we're dancing close and slow'. Often overlooked and (to my knowledge) the song has never been performed live (someone correct me if I'm wrong) which is a shame.
Very Joni Mitchell influenced in it's delivery and lyrically very sexual without being too obvious. I was mesmerized when I first heard it way back in the day and its still a fave from this album :)
