<!-- google_ad_section_start --> Lady Gaga has called for people to respect her in her own right.
The US singer complained about being compared to other female singers like Madonna.
"It’s not a bad comparison but I want to be respected as an artist in my own right," she told The Sun.
"Bowie, Prince and Grace Jones were all famous for their style and fashion, so I think it’s a tradition popstars should maintain."
The star, who has spent two weeks at number one with her debut single 'Just Dance' (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/a139516/lady-gaga-ft-colby-odonis-just-dance.html), added that women are the dominant force in pop music.
"When John Lennon was talking about Yoko Ono he used to say that women possessed a wisdom that no man could have.
"At certain points in history women always rise. Pop is historically a female sport and women are winning all the gold medals at the moment."
Lady GaGa released her album The Fame (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/music/a141079/lady-gaga-the-fame.html) on January
