3121 to Move to LA for 7 Week Run from June

Exclusive: Seven weeks of Prince in Hollywood?

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/buzzbands/images/2007/05/18/princesuperbowl.jpg (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/.shared/image.html?/photos/uncategorized/2007/05/18/princesuperbowl.jpg)
Hollywood will be raining purple this summer, if current plans hold up.
Prince (http://www.3121.com/) is expected to announce a seven-week residency at the historic Roosevelt Hotel that will include a heaping helping of music, dining and VIP guests, sources say. The stint is contingent on final approval of the contracts, which could come as early as this week. The string of shows is scheduled to start in mid-June, about a week after the 49th birthday of the man born Prince Rogers Nelson.
What the plans call for: On seven Friday nights starting June 15, the Roosevelt will close off its lobby at 9 p.m. Then, at 11:30 in the Blossom Room in front of 250 seated guests and an undetermined number of standing-room-only patrons, Prince (joined each week by special guests) will give a two-hour performance. At 2 a.m., Prince's private chef will take over the kitchen of the Roosevelt's Dakota restaurant, which will morph into an after-hours dinner club. As part of a jazz ensemble, Prince will entertain diners until 4 a.m.
Nobody's going to be asking where afterparty is, that's for sure. Ticket information might be available this week -- suffice to say these tickets will not be cheap. A one-off performance given by Prince last year at the Roosevelt attracted a star-studded crowd.
Prince last week was announced as part of a pricey concert series (http://idolator.com/tunes/concerts/the-15000-concert-series-will-let-you-see-prince-for-a-steep-steep-price-261558.php) this summer in the Hamptons. And just two weeks ago, in announcing 21 dates this summer in London, Prince said he was taking some time off to study the Bible (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070508/music_nm/prince_dc).

Prince will be staying at the Roosevelt all summer as he and his band rehearse for their tour.

Prince to play LA residency?

The star sets his sights on Hollywood

Prince (http://www.nme.com/artists/prince) is expected to announce a seven-week residency at Los Angeles' Roosevelt Hotel beginning in June.

Following on the heels of his announcement of a London residency in August, the star is expected to confirm seven Friday-night performances at the historic Hollywood hotel later this week.

Pending approval of a contract currently under negotiation, the shows will begin on June 15 and continue until the end of July, reports the Los Angeles Times.

PRINCE TO BOOK SEVEN-WEEK RUN IN L.A.: Artist reportedly being paid $3 million to perform at Hollywood Roosevelt hotel.

May 24, 2007

http://www.eurweb.com/images/articles/200705/prince_tight_head.jpg *Folks in the U.S. who can’t make it to Prince’s London shows can start saving their pennies for the singer’s planned seven-week run here on American soil.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the artist will tune up for his 21-show London run with a seven-week stand at the historic Hollywood Roosevelt hotel in Los Angeles. Beginning June 15, Prince is due to perform a two-hour set beginning each night at 11:30 p.m. for seven consecutive Fridays.

Also, the hotel’s Dakota restaurant is to be transformed into an after-hours dinner club at 2 a.m., at which time Prince's private chef will take over the kitchen, and Prince will front a jazz ensemble that will jam until 4 a.m., the Times reports.
A source told the New York Post’s Page Six: "He's getting paid $3 million for the gigs - $1.5 million is coming from a clothing company, Verizon is chalking up $750,000, and the rest is covered by the hotel. Prince will also get comped rooms, food and beverages."

The Times reports that Prince will be staying at the Hollywood Roosevelt throughout the summer while he and his band rehearse for the London shows, which begin in July.

Prince Definitely Not Performing at Hollywood Roosevelt This Friday

http://www.hotelchatter.com/files/admin/prince_cinegrill.jpg

We got a bit excited, as did seemingly everyone in the music and celeb blogosphere, that Prince would be starting up a seven-week gig of Friday night shows at the infamous Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel (http://www.hotelchatter.com/hotel-reviews/Hollywood+Roosevelt+Hotel/local/11).
Last we heard, the contracts were in the process of being finalized and the first show date was set for this Friday, June 15.
Yet a reliable HotelChatter tipster informed us that Prince will not be singing/cooking/playing jazz/shooting hoops with guests this Friday. Our source maintains that nothing is official in regards to Prince playing at the hotel, but everyone involved is optimistic.
Furthermore, the above photo of a marquee touting that "the Revolution was just around the corner" was actually taken over a year ago when Prince performed at the hotel during Amanda Scheer-Demme's reign--remember her?
None of this means Prince, won't do a series of shows at the Roosevelt Hotel, we still think he will, or are at least still extremely hopeful he will, however, don't get in line this Friday--there will be no show. Meanwhile, LAist (http://www.laist.com/2007/05/21/prince_2_play_7.php) has speculated that ticket prices will contain Prince's favorite numbers 3121, like $3,121 for one ticket. We're hoping he picks the wallet-friendly price of $31.21 instead.

from j7:

The standing room only tickets R going 2 be $312.01.

The tables will be $3,121.00 including dinner, table service and the after show. This is for a pair of tickets and you will have your own table.

The first show could happen as early as this weekend.

There will be shows on Friday & Saturday but not every weekend.

He will NOT be performing the weekend of 07/07/07 at this time.

There may be more than the original 7 shows that were agreed to, which would effect ticket and table prices.
