Pop superstar MICHAEL JACKSON is said to be "devastated" after PRINCE reportedly snubbed an invitation to join him on tour. The Thriller hitmaker allegedly asked Prince to perform with him on a planned comeback tour, but with the soul star already committed to his 21 shows in London later this year (07), he declined the offer.

A source tells British newspaper The Sun, "Michael seemed pretty gutted (disappointed) about it. He said he's approached Prince to see if he would like to work together. But Prince wasn't interested in gigging with him. "There would be so much hype surrounding (his) first gig, it would end up turning into the Michael Jackson show. "Prince had his own plans. He is a legend in his own right. He doesn't need to be supported by anyone."

REP DENIES MIJAC WANTED TO TOUR WITH PRINCE: Raymone Bain counters story in London paper; says the two never spoke.

June 1, 2007

http://www.eurweb.com/images/articles/200706/michael_jackson(007-headahot-smile-shades-med).JPG *Could you just imagine – Michael Jackson and Prince in a co-headlining tour? Well keep trying to fathom it.

A British newspaper reported Wednesday that Jackson had approached Prince with a proposal to perform a string of concerts together that would help re-launch his career, and that the Purple One turned him down cold.

However, Jackson's rep Raymone K. Bain told EUR's Lee Bailey Thursday that the entire story is completely untrue.

Britain’s The Sun newspaper claimed Michael was overheard complaining about Prince’s snub while putting in his appearance last weekend at the Sultan of Brunei's son's 25th birthday party, for which he was paid £5 million.

The paper quoted sources who said Prince turned down the offer over concern that the hype surrounding Michael's comeback would overshadow the concerts, and he wasn't trying to come off as anyone’s supporting act.

Bain, however, tells EUR that Jackson has not spoken to Prince and the entire article is a fabrication.

"The article is completely false. These respective publications remain consistent in that reporters did not contact us regarding the validity of the story before writing it," Bain says. "Mr. Jackson has not approached Prince to perform with him on a 'planned comeback tour.' There have been no discussions with Prince. Period. We have been consistent in stating that Mr. Jackson is readying his music for release, which is his main priority at this time.

In other MiJac news, the entertainer now owns a stake in the back catalog of rapper Eminem after his purchase of Famous Music LLC from Viacom, reports NME.com.

Famous Music also owns rights to songs by Shakira, Beck and Bjork, all of which will join the Beatles catalog under Jackson’s Sony/ATV Music Publishing stable.

"This is a milestone event for Sony/ATV Music Publishing,” Jackson said in a statement. “The diverse collection of songs in this catalog range from timeless classics to contemporary hits, and I am pleased to add the acquisition of Famous Music to Sony/ATV."

One of the world’s largest music publishing companies, Sony/ATV was formed in 1995 when Sony’s music publishing arm merged with ATV, which Jackson had purchased in 1985 for $47 million. Sony and Jackson each hold 50 percent of the company.

Finally, according to the AP, Jackson family memorabilia brought in about half a million dollars on the first of a two-day auction at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, auctioneer Guernsey's said Thursday. The auction, which wrapped up late Thursday, displayed more than 1,100 lots, mostly costumes, documents, awards and other memorabilia.

One of the priciest items to sell was a black, military-style coat with an "M" crest that belonged to Michael Jackson. It fetched $24,000, said Guernsey's president Arlan Ettinger.

Several awards sold for similar amounts, including gold and platinum albums presented to the Jacksons for sales of "We Are the World," recorded by a group of artists known as USA for Africa. The set sold for $20,000.
