Following the Manchester band's cancelled show at the Paris Rock en Seine (http://www.nme.com/news/oasis/47000) festival this evening, he posted the following statement on Oasisinet.com (http://www.oasisinet.com/).

"It's with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis (http://www.thedawnexperience.co.uk/artists/oasis) tonight," he wrote. "People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with [singer, his brother] Liam a day longer."

The band pulled out of the Paris show just before they were due on stage (http://www.nme.com/news/oasis/47000), with organisers allegedly displaying a message explaining an "altercation" had caused the cancellation.

noel walked out on the band before in 2002 and returned. the brothers were always arguing and falling out and getting back together. it will happen again, as they are still selling out huge venues. liam wants to continue the band without noel anyway. even though liam is the only remaining original member. they all met in a pub the other day and liam was talking about continuing with the band. they've done gigs before without liam, so they can do the same without noel. i stopped following them about 10 years ago, as after the first 2 or 3 albums it got a bit boring. they way the music business is these days is so you can keep on touring for ever if you have one or two big hit albums and a solid following from the start. if you split and start another band it's not half as easy to rebuild the success. the fans keep returning as they wanna hear the old hits, not the new stuff

Always wanted to hear a Noel solo album so hopefully that will now happen.
