Wendy & Lisa on new "Heroes" soundtrack CD

(FROM HOLLYWOOD REPORTER) – NBC is set to release the first original soundtrack for its series Heroes (http://www.ew.com/ew/allabout/0,,20038000,00.html) on March 18. Among the artists who have contributed new music to the project are Wilco, Death Cab for Cutie, former Prince collaborators Wendy & Lisa, and Panic! at the Disco.

The CD will also contain classic tracks from Bob Dylan (http://www.ew.com/ew/allabout/0,,20001974,00.html) (''Man in the Long Black Coat'') and David Bowie (http://www.ew.com/ew/allabout/0,,20000372,00.html) (''Heroes''), and the first new single from Jesus and Mary Chain (''All Things Must Pass'') in a decade.

Five music video montages accompanying songs from the soundtrack, using footage from the show to portray a theme related to the track, will also be available for free download at the Zune Marketplace and for streaming at MSN. Nada Surf's ''Weightless'' will be the first such video, first available on Feb. 29. The soundtrack will be sold as a CD at Best Buy stores and as a music download through various digital music stores.

if you could place bets on a cd you know will bomb, then this would be a safe bet. releasing this after a dissapointing and cut short season finished months beforehand just doesn't make sense. the tracklisting is hardly going to make anyone want to buy it. only the few die hard W&L fans would want this. it will probably be clearance on amazon within a few weeks of release. none of the non W&L tracks have even been on the show so it's a badly timed cash in when the show is at it's lowest point of interest

let's hope they learn their lessons from season 2 and make season 3 as good as the first. the new season of lost is turning out to be one of the best, so hopefully the other shows will raise their game to compete
