Leave it to His Purpleness to surprise nearly everyone, including Knitting Factory club owners, when he strolled into the Hollywood venue in the middle of a Blind Boys From Alabama set on Friday night. The "Kiss" singer hopped on stage and performed "Soldier in the Army of the Lord." Apparently a major fan of the gospel group, the artist played lead guitar on "Soldier" and surely gave the unsuspecting crowd their money's worth.
Of course, this is not the first time Prince has dropped in to see an act he likes, only to jump on stage when the spirit moves him. The artist-now-known- as-Prince- once-again played guitar with Stevie Wonder at a Madison Square Garden gig last fall for a funky (as if it could be any other way) version of "Superstition. "
