Hollywood funnyman Chris Rock to play city

COMEDIAN and actor Chris Rock is bringing his sell-out stand-up show to Edinburgh next month.

The comedian, voted one of the funniest men in Hollywood for his raucous act, has added a string of extra dates to his tour.

Rock has already sold out a mammoth six-night stint at the Hammersmith Apollo and squeezed two performances into one day
at the Brixton Academy. He is now set to bring his act to the Edinburgh Playhouse on May 28.

The comedian has garnered three Emmys, three Grammy Awards, including a win this past year, and is co-creator and narrator of the hit television series Everybody Hates Chris.

When a show at London's O2 Arena was announced, it sold out in a morning, so another was added, which sold out in a matter of hours. The shows are expected to be recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records as the UK's largest ever stand-up events.

Edinburgh Playhouse general manager James Haworth said: "Yet again the Playhouse is at the forefront of Scottish entertainment. We are proud to announce Chris Rock, who will be playing this one-off Scottish date."

Tickets go on sale at 10am on Saturday, April 26 from Ticketmaster on 0844 847 1660 (nat call rate/booking fees apply) and www.ticketzone.co.uk (http://www.ticketzone.co.uk).

chris rock is notorious for the prince interview in which prince mentioned that welsey snipes took his part in martin scorseses video for michael jacksons song bad

he's playing the last few venues that prince had gigs at

i'll be aiming for the smallest of all the gigs in edinburgh if i can get a ticket. it won't be as intimate as seeing bill hicks or prince in a small venue, but it's a world of difference compared to the o2

yeah, i remember that so well. one of the good things about edinburgh is the festival and fringe so you get to see loads of great comics, mainly brand new and up and coming, but sometimes big names, and sometimes the hot name at the time. meeting jonny vegas really sticks out as he was drinking with us before, during and after a radio interview and was hilarious, and that was long before he was on the tv. russel brand invited us for a drink at the end of the festival but i had to leave. londoners are lucky to get great acts all the time
