Pink Floyd Man Loses Inflatable Pig

Roger Waters' prop disappears during Coachella performance

Former Pink Floyd (http://www.nme.com/artists/pink-floyd) frontman Roger Waters lost his inflatable pig during his performance at Coachella on Sunday (April 27).

Organisers are offering a $10,000 reward and four festival tickets for life in exchange for Waters' signature pig, which was seen floating away during his 'Dark Side Of The Moon' set at the three-day festival, reports Reuters.

The giant flying pig, part of Pink Floyd (http://www.nme.com/artists/pink-floyd)'s stage show since their 1977 album 'Animals' featuring the song 'Pigs On The Wing', broke free from its tethers above the Coachella crowd and drifted off.

Waters previously lost his flying pig in 1977, when it floated away on the second day of a photoshoot at the Battersea Power Station in London and was later recovered and used for an album cover.

i used to have a massive poster of the cover on my wall. it was literally about the size of a bus shelter (not the bus shelter posters, but the actual shelter, huge)

that is a real photo and a real inflatable pig. to paint the pig in would have been too easy, and they wouldn't have got the publicity for cutting it loose and saying it broke free

Roger Waters' flying prop comes back to earth

The giant inflatable pig which floated away during a Roger Waters concert at the weekend has been recovered in tatters in California.

The pig was found by two families on their driveways in La Quinta.

They will split the $10,000 (£5,090) reward offered by the Coachella music festival, from where the pig went missing (http://www.nme.com/index.php?class=article&id=36311&key=8c3a522c812459e9ad9b453c8f330da6).

Coachella spokeswoman Marcee Rondan explained: "It wasn't really supposed to happen that way."

The pig was tethered to the ground with ropes and floated away as Waters was playing the Pink Floyd (http://www.nme.com/artists/pink-floyd) song 'Pigs On The Wing'.

Pink Floyd (http://www.nme.com/artists/pink-floyd) had used inflatable pigs during their concerts in the past, and the lost animal was the same prototype as all the others, according to Rondan.

The two families who found what was left of the inflatable have also decided to share four life tickets to the Coachella Festival that were offered as part of the reward, reports BBC News.
