CONFIRMED NEWS! - Here is the confirmed information so far. Prince announced the following details during a press conference in London today (8th May)

Prince will play 21 nites in London

Confirmed dates are 1,3,4,7,10,11,14 August at the O2 Arena (formerly known as the Millenium Dome)

Tickets for the EARTH TOUR go onsale to general public on Friday 11th May at 9am from Ticketmaster and Seetickets

Presales are available to O2 phone customers by texting "prince" to 2020, you get a password and website to log into on Thursday 10th May at 9am - 2000 tickets in total are available

Ticket price is £31.21 (plus booking fees, delivery etc).

Ticket price includes a copy of his new CD.

Other shows will be announced at a later date.

These will be the ONLY EUROPEAN SHOWS in 2007.

Thats what's been confirmed so far. It seems he will also be playing other smaller venues to make his gigs more affordable, in response to other stars charging £500 a nite.

He is also looking to buy a home in London, and is inviting Amy Winehouse to join his cover of her song "Love Is A Losing Game", and the band have rehearsed 150 songs, and he wants to change the set list for different nites as he knows some fans will attend more than one show.

He has also mentioned that these will be the last shows in the UK for a long time, and he is going to take time off to travel and study the bible after the shows.

It looks like the shows will be "in the round" like the Musicology tour, and based on the previously leaked seating map from a while back, along with a picture of the superbowl on 3121.com it seems it will be that symbol shaped stage.

It's also interesting to note that he said he will play "21 nites". I wonder how many shows that will be... £31.21 x 21 x ?

checkout www.3121.com (http://www.3121.com) for further information and downloadable website banner ads. VIP ticket packages will also be available, providing seating in the first 10 rows.

OMG !!! I dont have a o2 phone.... what a bitch!!!

you could just get a pay as you go sim card from a newsagent, you get a text straight back with what looks like an individual code

you could always try texting 2020 on another phone and see what happens. my code mentions a presale on thursday. normally fan presales are tuesdays or wednesdays, with ticketmaster customer presales on thursdays, and then if there are any tickets left they go on sale fridays

btw, the venue has it's own smaller venue as well, so ideal for aftershows. i wonder if the original idea was to bring 3121 there and play for several nites in a row in the small venue. there was rumour of 21 nites in london

venue capacity is about 16,000. i wonder if he will use the symbol stage

according to ticket master yes. you can book 4 tickets per card/address

you have to order each nite seperately, so book 2 tix for the first nite, complete the order, then place a second order for 2 tix for the second nite, etc, placing 4 orders seperately if you want 4 single tickets on different nites. you can then call ticketmaster afterwards to check and confirm the order has been placed properly

you can actually order all 4 tix yourself with the same visa card and address, as long as no more than 4 tix in total are ordered, it's just you can't order more than one nite or event per order

Prince to play an unprecedented 21 shows in London this summer

The first seven nights of the Earth Tour will take place at the 02 Arena. Tickets - which will cost £31.21 and include a copy of the artist's new album - go on sale Friday

Caspar Llewellyn Smith
Tuesday May 8, 2007

The summer gig schedule is already full to bursting point, but Prince today announced that he will play an unprecedented 21 shows in London, starting with seven nights at the O2 Arena on 1 August.
In breaking with a trend that will see fans pay up to £500 to see Barbara Streisand in concert, ticket prices have been set at £31.21 - a reference to the title of his last album - for which fans will also receive a copy of the 48-year-old singer's as-yet-untitled new studio LP. Tickets for what is billed as the "Earth Tour" go on sale on Friday, May 11.

Contrary to reports, Prince will not be playing his greatest hits "for the last time". Instead, fans can expect to hear a mix of material, including a version of the Beatles' The Long and Winding Road. Briefly answering questions at the tour's launch in cental London, the singer also said that he was a huge fan of Amy Winehouse and planned a cover of her song Love Is A Losing Game, with the intention of inviting her on stage at one of his shows. During a recent residency with his band in Las Vegas, the Purple Rain singer claims to have rehearsed a total of 150 songs. Following a video montage celebrating his career, purple curtains parted and the singer walked on stage dressed head to foot in white, with a purple shirt and sunglasses. As well as saying that he wanted to release his new album in this new way as a form of "direct marketing, so I don't have to be in the speculation business of the music industry", he revealed that he is taking inspiration at the moment from "prophets from the Bible". He added that he is looking for somewhere to live in London for the duration of his residency, and said that he liked Earl's Court - a reference to previous concerts he has played there. Prince's last US tour in 2005 was the highest-grossing of the year. The London shows will be his only European apperances this summer, and his last in the UK "for a while". Prince said that afterwards he planned "to travel and study the Bible". Prince has not played a UK arena for at least ten years.

Prince has committed to a blockbuster, 21-date stretch performing in London this summer. The Earth Tour will kick off Aug. 1 with seven dates at the new 17,000-plus capacity venue O2 Arena, which will open its doors for the first time the previous month.

Continuing with the concept tested with his 2004 U.S. Musicology tour, a free copy of the artist's forthcoming album will be distributed with each ticket purchased. Details were not revealed about that project; a spokesperson for Universal in North America, which released Prince's most recent album, "3121," says it does not have a new album from the artist on its schedule.

Tickets will be capped at £31.21 ($62.24), with booking, CD postage and packaging fees bringing the total to £37.21 ($74.21). In the context of U.K. ticket prices for superstars, the fee for Prince's performances represents excellent value. In comparison, the best seats for Barbra Streisand's upcoming British shows cost £600.

The legendary artist look part in a press gathering in central London today (May 8) to unveil the three-week stint, which will be his only European dates this year.

"Last time I was here, a lot of people didn't get to see me, so we're trying to make it affordable," he explained. "That's why we're doing an extended stay. I got used to this while working in Las Vegas. I also have a wide fanbase, which come to multiple shows all the time."

CM8ShowAd("Middle"); During his stretch at the 3121 venue in Las Vegas, the artist and his band performed a slew of unusual material, including a version of Beatles classic "The Long And Winding Road," Amy Winehouse tracks and "a lot of jazz."

Gig-goers in London should expect the unexpected, he declared today. "Because there's going to be so many nights here, we're going to change the show every night. We've learned about 150 songs, and it'll be a lot of fun." Prince did not address the claim in a press release that he would be "performing his greatest hits for the very last time," a statement that seems to be whispered every time he returns to the road.

When asked if this was the last time he would play London, he admitted, "for a while. Which is another reason why we are staying so long." When pressed, he added, "We just need to take some time off to study and travel." And what is he studying? "The Bible."

A spokesperson said "eclectic and surprising supports from around the world" would open for the star. "I hope that [Winehouse] is going to show up," Prince said. "I'm a big fan."

Prince's hugely successful Musicology tour was built on similar principles -- ticket prices were kept low, and the "Musicology" CD came free with purchase. The tour drew nearly 1.5 million people, more than any tour on the road that year, and generated $90.2 million in gross ticket sales, ranking second only to Madonna on the year-end Billboard Boxscore chart.

The inclusion of the CD for the London dates was down to "direct marketing," Prince said today, adding "I don't have to be in the speculation business. The record industry is going through tumultuous times at the moments."

Amy Winehouse Would 'Drop Everything' To Honor Prince's Offer

For those not in the know, the Purple One held a press conference Tuesday in London to announce A) a lengthy stand at the city's O2 arena, dubbed the "21 Nights in London" tour; B) that after the tour, he'd be disappearing from the public eye to study the Bible; and C) he loves Winehouse's music (he's covered her "Love Is a Losing Game") and would "absolutely" invite her to join him onstage when he performs it during his London engagements (see "Prince To Play 21 Concerts In London — Then Take A Break To Study Bible" (http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1559050/20070508/prince.jhtml)).
Of course, all of this was news to Winehouse.
"What? I didn't know that. Prince is gonna study the Bible?! Is he going to be a rabbi?" she laughed. "I hope I can do [the gigs] though. I'll drop everything to do that. Stuff like that doesn't make me go, 'Oh, I must be the nuts.' Stuff like that makes me want to do this tomorrow, and the night after, and the night after. Now I want to find out how solid that is. I'd do it with bells on. All day long."

Prince has today announced a mammoth 21-night residency in London this Summer, with the first seven shows being performed at the 02 Arena, formerly the Millennium Dome.

The shows, the only ones in Europe this year, are being billed as "The Earth Tour" and will see the multi-intrumentalist play 'in the round' on his symbol shaped stage, the same as his performance at this year's Superbowl half-time show.

Prince will play August 1, 3, 4, 7, 10, 11 and 14, and tickets wil be pegged at £31.21, a price set to enable fans to afford the spectacular shows. 3121 is the same name of Prince's fan club, website and Vegas club venue.

The singer who appeared at the press conference in London's Covent Garden this afternoon (May 8) says he has 150 songs rehearsed, including "a lot of jazz" and some covers, including "Long And Winding Road" and Amy Winehouse's "Love Is A Losing Game."

The star commented that he'd love for the Brit singer Winehouse to perform the track with him as he's a huge fan of hers.

Prince promises a different show each night, with all curfews lifted, so that he can run club nights throughout the Prince 'festival.'

Support acts will be sourced from around the world to play at the 21 London dates.

Further venues are still to be confirmed.

Fans who buy a ticket for the London shows will also receive a free copy of the musician's 24th as-yet-untitled studio album, in an attempt by Prince to bypass the record industry, which he comments "is in turmoil" at the moment.

After these shows, the singer says he plans to take time off "to study and travel," when asked what he was planning to study, he said The Bible. Prophets are what inspires him now.

Tickets for the opening shows go on sale this Friday (May 11) at 9am.

More details about the shows are available on 3121.com here (http://www.3121.com/)

Oh my goodness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have waited my whole life for this moment.

I will finally get to see Prince live! And only a few months after I got engaged to the most beautiful boy in the world who shares my fascination and admiration of the man himself.

I cannot wait,

I only hope the girl jumping on stage at the Koko and Mauling Prince won't make him rethink his whole "get up on the stage" thing.

COMMENT ON THIS STORY (http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,4-2007230588,00.html#haveYourSay)

PRINCE will sleep in a TENT during his 21-night purple reign over London this summer. The pint-sized star has asked tour bosses to build extravagant camping quarters inside the O2 Arena — aka London’s Millennium Dome — to stay in during his August dates.
A source said: “Prince wanted to stay very close to his concert venues so he thought a marquee-style living space would be perfect and very comfortable. It really will be the most extravagant tent that has ever been built. It is out of this world.
“It will have luxury bathrooms, kitchens and huge living areas as well as living facilities for staff.”
