Matt Thorne & Alexis Taylor Discuss Prince at Rough Trade
22nd Oct 2012, 7:00 p.m.
Rough Trade East, Dray Walk, Old Truman Brewery, London E1

Author Matt Thorne and Alexis from Hot Chip will chair this special night that is a must for any Prince fan.
- 'Matt Thorne's Prince is the definitive work on the man; I am listening again to every piece of his music with renewed enthusiasm. Prince's music has always deserved a book like this - his own Revolution in the Head.' Alexis Taylor, Hot Chip
Legendarily reticent, perverse and misleading, Prince is one of the few remaining 80s superstars who still remains unexplained. His classics such as 'Purple Rain', 'Sign of the Times' and 'Parade' regularly feature in Best Ever Album polls but Prince is still an enigma.
His live performances are legendary and though recent releases have been modestly successful at best, his influence on urban music, and R 'n' B in particular, has never been more evident. His influence can be heard everywhere.
No one else will ever have a career like Prince. Not only because of his extraordinary range of ability across so many creative disciplines, but also because the music industry has fundamentally changed. Prince has created a uniquely multifaceted body of work, including an astonishing amount of unreleased material.
Entry to the event is free, but you must have a wristband (available from the store). Buy a copy of the book on the day of the event to get a wristband - any remaining wristbands will be available from one hour before the event.
